Is it me or is dinner time one of the most stressful parts of the day! Getting my kids to sit at the table let alone try a “new’ food is an uphill struggle! So, can we take the pressure off? Make dinner a much more relaxed, zen part of the day!

I am so used to thinking of dinner as the main meal of the day; it needs to have the right veg, protein, carbs, macro/ micro nutrients blah blah blah! If I psychoanalyse myself, I probably place too much pressure on this evening experience! But what I have realised is that my kids are exhausted by the end of the day and it’s not the time to explore new tastes and have a battle with them! 

The buzzword in nutrition is front loading and it is a bit all encompassing – but basically it places more emphasis on what we eat earlier in the day! 

So with that in mind, it might be worth adding protein, fruit and vegetables to breakfast plates, trying new tastes at lunch and making dinnertime a little more relaxed and snacky! Because if you know your family is snacking and eating wholesome food throughout the day – dinnertime becomes instantly less stressful!
